Our Chicken

Our chickens are rotationally grazed on pasture, moved once daily when they are younger and twice daily when they get older. Typical commercial broiler breeds (white Cornish-crosses) are ready to process in about 6 weeks, but our chickens take 10-12 weeks to reach market weight. This slower growth gives them more opportunity to forage for bugs and consume grasses which enhances the nutritional value and flavor of the meat. Commercial broilers, even when raised on pasture, do not forage as well as slower-growing chickens. They tend to stay right by the grain feeders!

All of our chickens receive fresh-milled, organic feed. Some of our chickens receive a soy-free version and are labeled accordingly.

All chickens are processed on farm by a mobile processor, so they don’t have transportation stress! We do not use vaccines, hormones, or antibiotics.
